Re: Will DMSA and ALA remove Aluminum?

I've recently had a hair analysis test, which in my opinion is the best way to check the metals and minerals stored in your body. After getting my results back which indicated I had a high level of aluminum and a small touch of arsenic built up in my body, I took my results to my doctor for further review.
If you're curious as to what "high" levels of toxic metals in your body are, I'll tell you like my doc told me. Any measurable amount of a toxic substance in your body is too much, your body has no use for poison. I was prescribed DMSA, in the form of "chemet", which is a heavy metal chelation medicine. I took my first cycle of the chemet, 200mg twice a day for four days and don't feel any different (for the good or bad). I'm about to start my second cycle and see if any gains are made, mostly due to the fact that I've already paid for the chemet and 32 pills cost me $275. I'll have my hair analyzed again after that and see what steps need to be taken at that point. At the present time my plans are to talk to my doc about I.V. EDTA chelation therapy, upon extensive review of DMSA and EDTA my conclusion is that DMSA is NOT an effective means for chelating aluminum from the body. EDTA however has been found to bind to aluminum and remove it from the body by means of urination and through the feces. Also I've concluded that I.V. chelation is much more effective than oral chelation due to the simple fact of the absorption rate. It has also been stated that DMSA will NOT penetrate the brain blood barrier, which aluminum can and generally does, so if the aluminum is built up in your brain tissue the DMSA wouldn't be able to get to it any way. This is my response to the question as of now, and upon further experience in dealing with this matter I will update as needed.
