Re: Having it removed today and need some advise
Hi there,
I am one of those who has taken a really, really long time to feel better and has experienced several crashes, and few new symptoms after removal (these are gone now, however!) and I need to tell you that even though recovery has been such a rollercoaster, I have NEVER regretted the decision to have it removed.
Things can take a long time to get better after removal, but that's much better than knowing that with Mirena in they can only stay the same or get worse.
Many of my post-removal symptoms have been scary, but fleeting. While my mirena was in, I was having constant suicidal thoughts mostly related to eye and stomach pain, which continued to get worse the longer Mirena was in. I can't even remember what that feels like now, and within a month after removal, my eyes were still painful but MUCH better, and my stomach had started to heal. It wasn't immediate, and I wasn't 100% (and am still not) but some improvement can bring immense hope after years of deterioration.
Some women actually do feel better very quickly after removal. On this board, I think ukmum is one of those. I suspect there are many others, but they probably recover so quickly they never make it to post on this board.
Don't expect the worst, or the best. Just to start slowly feeling better, with some possible crashes in between. Be kind to yourself, and give yourself permission to feel bad sometimes. And keep posting: We've been there and We're here for you!
