While most Buteyko practitioners are well-meaning, ethical people, there are some that have not been trained in accordance with the guidelines set forth by Konstantin Buteyko, his wife Ludmila and step-son, Andrey Novozhilov, the patent holders, and are therefore potentially harmful. The Buteyko Method is patented by Clinica Buteyko in Moscow, unfortunately there are uncertified practitioners around the world who are teaching the Buteyko Method without legitimate certification from the patent holders and co-inventors of the Buteyko Method.
