Spot on! I experience quite a bit of this sort of thing since dropping condiments in general, alcohol for the most part and with other foods that I haven't given up but do pay more attention to. All condiments are excitants/stimulants/toxins and if we consume them regularly, the body loses the ability to defend against them. If we rarely have them, the body will react strongly when we do partake and it sounds like you are particularly sensitive to salt.
I rarely have alcoholic drinks these days but when I do have one, it hits me like a brick. I'm slowly learning not to touch the stuff no matter how tempted I might be.
