New and Confused

On the advice of my naturopath I am trying to get my body more alkaline. I have parasites, candida, Rheumatoid Arthritis , Underactive thyroid due to treatment of graves disease.

I checked my ph balance this morning upon waking and my levels were 6.2 (urine and saliva). The test strip pack said to also wait 2 hours after eating and test again to see what effect that certain food has on your body. All I did was drink coffee with cream, cinnamon and blackstrap mollasses and I tested 2 hours later and my levels are 8.0. Isn't coffee acidic? Coffee is my one vice, except for occasionally having chocolate. I'm just confused because I thought that it would make my levels go down. I'm glad it didn't, but I am new to this whole acid/alkaline thing.

I'm looking for a balance, not to go 100% alkaline because I would give up. I bought a bunch of fresh fruit. I'm confused as far as actual meals go. I don't want to just have to eat raw fruits and veggies all day.

I'm not sure where to begin. I do drink water with chlorophyll drops every day.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
