Tooth Extraction

I have to get my upper right molar extracted due to a cavity that they could not get all of. I am dreading this a bunch, but it seems like this is the only good option. I know you have experience with tooth extractions, so is there any thing you can suggest, especially for preventing an infection or helping with the pain after?
