The x ray is not the way to see whether your root canal has an infection or not. X ray only show if your bone/ root already spoilt (which by that time would be too late). As long as your infection has not destroy your bone, it won't show up in the X ray. Also, some early signs may be shown in the xray but the dentist may not be 'trained' to notice it. So be careful when somebody say the x ray doesn't show anything wrong (bring it to another experience dentist, he/she may have different opinions).
