Re: Which ph testing method do you think is best?

Since you did not show any direct reference, I have to disagree with what you think Ted said.
Here are some of Ted's posting on EC:

Baking soda taken at least 1/4 teaspoon, in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day is helpful. Apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoon plus 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda can also slowly take up the pH to be mroe alkaline also. However, an optimum dose for different people is different, which is why a pH meter is more ideal to finding an optimum dose for different people. Most people seem to need 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda 2 x times a day, but this is not uniform and pH meter would offer a more accurate picture. I don't generally use pH paper because they are quite often has values that are way off, even the more expensive ones.
So You have to understand the context of the sentence above.

A good pH paper that measures pH between 5- 8 is the one I usually use if people want to measure themselves. Mine is 5.6 -7.2. So obviously it is more accurate, it's often off the scale with these people.

Of course, a pH meter is more accurate. Most require regular adjustment with a standardized solution for calibration.
In my opinion, if you require to be very precise go for the meter. I don't need that level of precision. And I cann carry pH strips anywhere with me with no problem.
