Re: Has anyone tried a Keto Diet for high cortisol or AF in general?
I've tried a ketogenic diet, fairly low carb 40-60 g, and 80-120 g carbs both with and without Schwarzbein dosing.
Low carb did and did not work for me:
- hypoglycemia got better as blood
Sugar levels evened out
- I lost body fat
- cortisol elvels either didn't improve or got even lower. That's because gluconeogensis that happens with low carb requires cortisol. Your body will use it's few cortisol resources on gluconeogenesis leaving less for other functions. I felt worsening of sleep and couldn't really exercise even after keto-adaption.
I have to say paleo diet with roughly Schwarzbein carb dosing has been the best I've ever felt. I do some non-paleo carb sources like rice, but mostly paleo.
- Hypoglycemia has never been this steady, now even if I eat carbs I don't get hypo
- I can exercise a lot
- Feel better in every way really
