Getting Vitamin D Naturally

Excerpt:

Our livers are the main organ that convert 'sunlight on the skin' to the Vitamin D we actually can utilize (the kidneys play a part, too, if I'm not mistaken)...so get all the natural sunlight you can (even on overcast days) - and keep getting those organs decongested & restored, and you'll have all the D you need.

Of course (a surprise to many) we have some food/herbal sources - good herbal sources of the Sunshine Vitamin include Parsley, Nettle, Alfalfa, Spirulina, Blue-Green Algae, Chlorella, and Horsetail. (there's alfalfa, spirulina & chlorella in the Superfood...yay!)

Guess what organ is mainly responsible for converting sunlight and making Vitamin D available? Yep...the liver.

>>> Vitamin D is carried in the bloodstream to the liver, where it is converted into the prohormone calcidiol. Circulating calcidiol may then be converted into calcitriol, the biologically active form of vitamin D, either in the kidneys or by monocyte-macrophages in the immune system. When synthesized by monocyte-macrophages, calcitriol acts locally as a cytokine, defending the body against microbial invaders.[4] <<<

Re: Hi Uny, what kind of fish oil do you recommend? [Unyquity]

Excerpt:

Let it be known :::grin::: that my cousin (an RN) and myself spent almost 2 weeks in 'deep research' trying to find THE purest, most natural, most effective fish oil available. What we found (in a very small nutshell):

--all the various process to remove metals/toxins (typically molecular distillation), also removes the naturally occuring vitamins. (I can live with 'no vitamin' fish oil, but it would be wonderful to get the naturally occuring Vitamin A & D).
