how do i make my tincture stronger?

I just strained my first tincture every -- Milk Thistle -- the pillowcase straining method worked great. But the tincture I ended up with doesn't seem very strong. It's brown, but mostly tastes/smells like vodka. And is not nearly as strong (or neon yellow) as the milk thistle tincture I had from HerbPharm.

I used 2.5 cups of 100 proof vodka and 3 oz of freshly ground organic seed, and let it sit for 6 weeks in a dark place, shaking daily. When it settled there was about 1/3 to 1/2 herb and the rest float. So I think I did everything right.

But, is there a way I can evaporate out some of the alcohol to make the tincture stronger, without damaging the herbal constituents? I know what the dosage would be for a stronger tincture, but for what I've got now, I wouldn't know what to take. And I imagine it would contain a lot of alcohol.

So how do I take my first homemade tincture and make it as good as HerbPharm's?

Thanks!

(I also strained my second tincture today -- a gold coin grass tincture that was so full that it had no room for float at all. I can still taste the vodka but there's some other flavors in there too, and it's nice and dark. So hopefully that's strong enough!)
