I think it's pretty clear that the Newsweek article is heavily weighted in favour of the anti-natural-treatment, pro-pharmaceutical standpoint.

Cancer is caused by hormones that are synthetic. Your body does not recognize them. There are molecular differences between natural hormones and synthetic hormones, and that makes all the difference! For instance... there's a one-atom difference between estrogen and testosterone, so of course, there is a difference between pharmaceutical progestin (note spelling) and natural progesterone.

The only reason a difference progestin exists is because the pharmaceutical co. invented it in order to legally patent it and profit from its sales. You can't do that with a natural substance like progesterone.

The Newsweek article is so vociferously anti-Oprah, Somers and all things natural, I'd say it's pretty transparently pro-industry shilling. Maybe Oprah and Somers are a little over-the-top in singing the praises of BHRT, as no treatments are perfect, but they were probably hoping to change a few ingrained perspectives out there, perspectives that have resulted from our being constantly bombarded by ubiquitous big pharma propaganda.
