Strong earthquake shakes Japan

A tsnuami alert has been issued after an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.2 hit the northeast coast of Honshu, Japan, on Wednesday afternoon, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
The quake, at a depth of 10 kilometers, struck at 12:45 p.m. local time, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
