Dip rescued Beagle in Iodine?

Just wondering...I rescued a Beagle and he is well, dirty. I would like for him to be rinsed in something. He was an outdoor penned dog until I got him. (It was 28 degrees two nights ago and I could hear him howling).

His house was not heated. It was a plastic carrier on the north side of a garage in the snow. The protective "tarp" was in shreds. Nothing was shielding this great little dog from the cold at all. He didn't even have a blanket, a towel, straw etc to help keep him warm.

His walking area was also his potty area. So he would walk on top of his feces and I would like to dip the little guy in something to somewhat clean him up w/o chemicals and soaps.

Dip him in Iodine?? Maybe?
