Cancer cure claims 'misleading and deceptive'

Cancer cure claims 'misleading and deceptive'
Posted Mon Feb 28, 2011 11:08am AEDT

Legal action is being taken against a woman alleged to have promised to cure people's cancer in exchange for money.

Gwyneth Graham is alleged to have used the internet to promote her cancer treatment program, which she offered at her property near Kununurra.

In an email written by Ms Graham and obtained by the ABC, she promises that her spiritual healing is 100 per cent effective, and that she cures people in Kununurra "every week".

Her price lists offers full healing for a one-off fee of $450.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission says the claims were misleading and deceptive, and has launched a prosecution in the Federal Court.

It will be alleged that Ms Graham, who was associated with the Spiritual Healing Association of WA, used websites with the names 'messiah kindgom' and 'little book of God' to sell accommodation and treatment packages in the remote East Kimberley.

Ms Graham is due to appear in the Federal Court on Friday.
