I have Hidradenitis Suppurativa. This is a skin disease that typically starts during the teenage years and occurs in areas supported by the apocrine glands (sweat glands). For some unknown reason, people with Hidradenitis get chronic plugging of the glands. Outbreaks usually occur under the arms, breasts, groin and inner thigh. Many medical journals state that people suffering from this disease do not seek a diagnosis due to embarrassement. I disagree with this. I have chatted with several sufferers and they have verified that often this illness is misdiagnosed. I did not get this illness as a teen, but developed it in my 40's after a couple of very stressful changes in my life.
