...If veggies come up like weeds, it means that all the other necessary conditions are in place, like exactly the right soil micro-organisms, and available aquafer (groundwater).


I've got some hazelnuts (filberts) to plant. I kept them in the pockets of the car door all winter, knowing that they would ripen and mature in the cold of our carpark.

Sometimes others put seeds in the freezer, to simulate winter.


They say that food prices will rise dramatically...although I imagine that the big food processors will work hard to control our buying habits.

Scattering hardy heritage seeds and allowing seeds to self-replant as Chiron suggests, may become our saving grace.

...And seek out advice on how to harvest in the wild, such as; take no more than 1/3 of what you find...or much less if you can manage it.


I always loved the story of the lady who planted squash on the perimeters of the Washington state rainforests...for the folks living in there.
