Re: From Tiananmen Square to Tahrir Square.

This would a good time to visit on the potential Tiananmen Square 2.0. When the trade imbalance among other things finally catch up and the money flow slows, and the growth spurt of the last few years falters, the peoples will start to grumble. Right now I doubt there is impetus from the lower and evolving middles classes to sqawk about much since their tenuous arrows are pointing in the right direction for many.

In a useless bit of information, my brother was a few miles from Tiananmen Square when it broke and went to the square a couple of days later to be there and photograph. He was one of the very few Americans who stayed in Northern China when the State Department issued a evacuate warning. He is tall, blond haired and blue eyed and as long as he kept his mouth shut, he was mistaken for a Russian, hence friendly. He wrote daily journals that were sent back to my pop via an acoustical modem and a modem program that was scripted to send ascii communiques... using alligator clips to tap into an ancient phone system where he was staying. The journals were published in newspapers. Useless information off....
