Re: If Things Get Tough

Yeah I'm like you. I take all the pets people are going to kill or abandon. I had a one eyed cockatiel one time. He was my first or second best buddy. He lived on me.

You might want to try putting the seeds in the oven on low, maybe 125-150 and dry them out completely and hopefully kill any critters in it? Then like you said seal-a-meal it.

Also you can get dry ice, which is CO2 and put it in one of those wire strainers, and have the seeds in a bowl below it so the ice doesn't touch it. Then loosely put the lid over the container, so air can get out and let the ice melt. The CO2 will sink and eliminate all the air in the bowl. And the dry ice will kill anything living in there. Then seal it.

And another posibility is getting those oxygen packets and putting them in with the seeds and seal it. That way there will be no oxygen for the critters to live on. I had a video on that, but can't find it right now. But just throw one of those air packets into a plastic package with the seeds in it, squish all the air out of it by hand and then seal it. The oxygen packet will suck ALL the air out of the package and it will be so tight nothing could survive I would think.

Hopefully one of those method will work.

Good Luck Amigo!
