Want to get Amalgams removed but not refilled

Hello, I got Amalgam fillings I felt I didnt need about 3 years ago. Dentist called it "preventative measures".... Anyways, I've been experiencing the usual mercury symptoms - fatigue,loss of memory, brain fog, poor sleep, etc. I'm going to visit a holistic dentist to get them removed
I've also been looking into remineralizing your teeth naturally through diet and herbs.
So my question is, is it possible to tell a dentist to remove the Amalgam but not refill it?. Would they do this sort of thing? Thanks for any help
