Re: Breathing problems question????
Oh my. I had this problem (air hunger) a month ago (about 14 months post). It was the first time I'd had this. It bothered me throughout the day because I would be just doing my normal stuff and then get very breathless. After a few minutes of deeper breathing, I was fine again, but it happened all throughout the day. It was the worst during the night (and it happened for 3 nights) because just as I was falling asleep, I would "forget" to breathe and be jerked awake. I did not feel "anxiety" during this, although I was worried. I'm just saying it wasn't a breathing problem brought on by anxiety. I literally didn't sleep for 3 nights. I was terribly frightened. I finally called my Dr. and he said I could get a monitor for apnea. But I knew that wasn't the problem, because apnea happens after you fall asleep, and I knew I wasn't even getting to sleep in the first place. And apnea is usually not noticed by the person who has it, but by others sleeping in the same room. On the 4th night, it slowly went away, and I slept. It makes me cry to remember it because it was so hard. I was scared every night for a week that it would happen again. It hasn't come back. I've read that it can be associated with thyroid problems. I am "borderline" hyperthyroid, so maybe that was it? Or was it hormones?
I recently started taking some herbs to help with hormone balance, but after a couple weeks of it, I'm feeling horrible again. Many of my symptoms have come back - dizziness, vertigo, bad spaciness, vision trouble - that I had a year ago. So I'll leave my hormones alone for now let them try to sort themselves out.
