Re: Whats the big deal about diflucan?

This is so true. Walk in to see a GI specialist in the US and mention candida, and youre more likely to get a referral to a psych for ssri's than any kind of diagnostic test that might actually help you.

I gave up on getting any help from modern medicine. The docs I've met are clueless about GI health. They seem too caught up in their own egos and opinions to even take the time to listen to the patient. Waste of time.

Agreed. I think you are spot on about the egos getting in the way. Doctors tend to believe everything they learned in medical school, and medical school tells them that Candida infections only happen to immunocompromised patients. Once they get that stuck in their heads it's almost impossible to convince them otherwise.

Has anyone had success with Diflucan? Everything I've read it clears symptoms for a week or two and than Candida comes back worse than before.

I had success with it. See my before and after pics at http://www.candidarx.com/blog/2010/12/18/my-story-with-candida/. Been over 3 years since my initial treatment and haven't had a relapse yet, but I did change around my diet and lifestyle quite a bit after initial treatment.
