Re: Alternative treatment

zooii,

find another doctor who will treat your symptoms!!! my test results came out 'normal' for years (while i was suffering from a myriad of thyroid related problems) while i deteriorated into an autoimmune hypothyroid hashimoto mess. i went from 'normal' last year to having a 134 TSH, which two weeks later was over 155. i had less than 5% T3 and T4 left, and i almost went into a coma.

while i was waiting to find out what was actually wrong with me, i started self-medicating with l-tyrosene 500mg 2x daily, and bladderwrack. they both made me feel slightly functional (i.e. my hands and feet had bouts of feeling warm vs. ice cold; i started sleeping less than the then-usual 14 hours a day), HOWEVER, it's quite possible that the bladderwrack may have accelerated the destruction of the thyroid. apparently, the Iodine supplied by the bladderwrack is good for you if the problem is Iodine deficiency-caused hypothyroidism, but NOT if it's autoimmune. you need to find out your Iodine levels in your urine before you can complement with bladderwrack or any other iodine-containing products. as for the l-tyrosene, it really does help with some fatigue issues, and mental alertness. what are your symptoms exactly?
