CRISIS last night; taking 1 day off on homemade soup broth
Hey guys, so after feeling great wrapping up Day 5, I experienced a crisis in the wee hours of day 6. Same thing that has happened to me before on prior fasts:
My heart began feeling really tight, and my ribs were constricted and I felt I could not get enough air. It was so frightening, since I was literally just laying in bed resting. I tried to wait it out an hour, but as I took my pulse it seemed my heartbeat was not beating regularly - I got really scared cause I live alone, and all my family is half-way around the world. So in my panic I decided to break the fast for 1 meal... I had not planned on this so I had to walk to the 24-hour grocery to buy something. I started by slowly sipping a Vitamin Water (40cal) to give me energy for the walk and I bought ingredients for soup. Couldn't do juice, too much of a
Sugar shock on my system even when not fasting.
This is what I put in my soup:
- Cherry tomatos
- Celery
- Leeks
- Broccoli
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- Chicken Broth 500ml (WISH they had vegetable, but at this hour of the morning that is all I could get... I watered it down with 750ml water to reduce the sodium)
- Black pepper, basil, oregano, and parsley to taste
I boiled all the ingredients and slowly sipped away at the soup, and although I was not hungry when breaking the fast, it tasted AMAZING! I froze the rest and will have it at a later date.
So, other than the chicken broth (which had 0.10 grams of salt PER SERVING ugh)... I felt I made a pretty healthy detox soup! I do not regret 'taking the night off' as I feel that is what was best for my body at the time. I know if I was fasting under medical supervision, I would have not broke the fast, but I just get too nervous being all by myself durning a fasting crisis.
So I'm back on water today, and plan to go an additional 5 days to reach 10 days total, then alternate fasting with water and soup/fruit after that. I will tack on an extra day at the end, so as to not count last night as one of my fasting days.
Keep going strong guys and happy fasting!
P.S: Feeling GREAT today, except I can really taste the salt in my mouth from the broth, and my tongue is no longer white! Hope I can slip back into ketosis sooner this time and not have to wait another two days... :)
