HSV 1 or Fungal infection please help...
ok, doctors and dermatologist that i've seen about this are stumped. can give me no answers. i even saw a P.A. and she said, 'it's too hard to figure out'.
i posted something about this awhile back and some really kind person on curezone suggested fungal infection, but i would like to reopen this topic.
here's the situation:
since like the mid 90's i've been getting recurrent outbreaks of a red rash on my lips. the rash is hot, red and angry looking. it feels like a sunburn even in the winter time. i get no raised fluid filled blisters, but sometimes the lips will ooze if i put something on them like ointment creams.
so, i was thinking this might be hsv 1 because sometimes i'll get these extremely tiny micro bumps but they won't stay long. everything i tried nothing worked. when that one curezoner from awhile ago suggested a fungal infection, i had thought to myself how i had tried tinactin on it and it hadn't helped. i did find an old tube past its exp. date of 2% clotrimazole vaginal yeast cream that i just happened to try on my lips to see what would happen. this cream is designed for fungal and yeast infections not virus infections. low and behold, it works better than any other thing i've tried. it soothes the skin and clears up the angry infection in less than a couple of days, though the infection will come back on its own months later. so what could this really be. it kinda has the look of hsv, but why would hsv be susceptible to a fungal cream? your advice would be most helpful. i'm getting frustrated with this long standing infection that makes me not want to face people.
