The answer to this issue is really quite simple. This shooting was a result of the blending of mental illness AND politics. It is not a matter of either/or. This was a political gathering. The main target was a democrat. The other victims had come to see her.

The media (which in my opinion is NOT liberal) started harping on how mentally ill this guy was five minutes after the shooting. Of course he is deranged, that is obvious, but in all past shootings (and there have been many) this issue was not emphasized like this at all, let alone so soon. Past mass shootings have all been in schools or some public place, and the mental health issue, while it was there, did not make such glaring headlines.

Consequently, to any thinking person it is also obvious that the shooter's mental health issues have been brought up and publicized to the extent of actually interviewing his high school sweetheart in order to steer everyone way from the political aspect involved. No matter how deranged he is or how he was registered to vote, he shot a democrat. It was deliberate and premeditated - it was not a random selection of venues that could have just as easily been his old high school or college. Tweet
