Find out if they did a HIDA scan and that is when they test the functioning capacity of the gallbladder.
An ultrasound may or may not show an abnormality. For example, my US was essentially normal in that the size was normal, no stones were seen, and I was deemed to have a "normal" gb. But in reality per HIDA scan, my gb was working at under 1% function and had completely shut down from the congestion from all of the cholesterol stones clogging the entrance.
