I wonder if the same technology could be used to grow hydroponic plants, here on Earth. Its very interesting about the LED putting out the exact spectrum of light that the plants need through their growing cycle.

I can see the advantage for long space trips, but the same system could maybe be used on long sea voyages, or even in submarines. Or in peoples houses, in countries that have a long dark winter. Lots of possibilities.
