in my experience rhodiola is by far the strongest adaptogen out there. i believe that it can act similar to cortisone and shut down the adrenals if you were to take too much. for some people this can be a very welcome rest, for others it could possibly do what you mentioned, but no way know for absolute sure.

best to start with a very low dose and then ramp it up slowly, gauging how you feel very carefully.

the first thing you should do is try to feed the glands properly, and if that does not work then try out the herbs/medications which will take up the slack in compromised hormonal output.
