Re: Can hypothyroid cause grey hairs?

So, hypothetically, IF tyrosine is the problem then supplementing with tyrosine tablets will cause my grey hairs to return to their original colour or would correcting the hypothyroid correct tyrosine levels by the thyroid itself?

Since tyrosine is needed for thyroid hormone production low tyrosine could also lead to hypothyroidism.  Therefore, if low tyrosine is causing the hypothyroidism and the gray hair then tyrosine supplementation should help with both.  It does take a while though for the new pigmented hair to grow out.

By the way tyrosine should be taken on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before meals.
