I just had this conversation with a friend. She went to her ENT for an exam, and the first thing the ENT said to my friend as she walked in was, "Before I say anything further, it works." My friend was confused and had no idea what the doctor was talking about. Then the ENT went on to say to smear the soles of the feet with Vicks, put on socks and go to bed, and it'll take care of congestion better than swallowed cold medicines. This is the best ENT in our area, and the few times I've had to see her she seems open to some of the more old-fashioned and alternative medicine ideas, so I was impressed by the idea of Vicks on the feet. I'm definitely going to give it a go. I don't have a cold, but this winter weather tends to congest me at bedtime in a way that the humidifier doesn't help.
