Re: Mercury Amalgams and Toxic Root Canals

You are welcome. Let me just give you a broad perspective which may be helpful to you in your overall evaluation:

The general tendency for most with protracted adrenal fatigue in advance stage is to look for culprit , esp among those who are logically minded and obsessive compulsive in personality traits. In the vast majority of the time, failure in recovery is due to lack of patience and unreasonable expectation along with the lack of a systematic plan. This may not be applicable to you and I am just talking generally.

There is no shortage of culprits to be pointed at, from internal dysbiosis to heavy metal toxicity to vitamin B deficiency etc etc. There are few I have not seen. There is also no shortage of tests to find these "zebras" if you look hard enough and pay enoug money to experts ( and recently, labs that promote these test) to find them. Most people do not realize that just because something shows up positive in a test does not mean it needs to be fixed. In fact, many have such low clinical correlation that render the results useless. This is particulary true in Adrenal Fatigue. Many functional medicine test are designed to be viewed as part of the overall picture and not to be fixed on an item by item basis as many are conditioned to do by conventional medicine. Test are too often used as justification instead of being used as it should as an adjunct to detailed history by an astute clinician.

Don't forget that medicine is an art and not a science. The resurgance of narrative medicine lost in the past generation points to the defects of modern medicine's reliance on testing and the robotic path. Trying to treat a person holistically by laboratory is a common mistake if the proper clincial perspective is not employed. I am not saying they are useless, but I am saying it is over-regarded and if you have adrenal fatigue, clinical history is way way more accurate than any lab currently available unless we are dealing with medical emergencies. So make sure you question your doc on the pros and cons and be ready so it does not come as a surprise.

I went to medical school with an astute generation of physicians /teachers who are sharp and they do not need labs except in rare occasions. Yet their diagnosis is spot on most of the time. In fact, they would overrule test and turns out to be right. That is the kind of doc you need to have on your side, and I hope you find one. The advent of law suits propel many docs to do defensive medicine with labs and use the labs as a justification of many procedures with the end result that patient suffer without recourse. So much so nowadays that not use lab but to use our head is considered sub-optimal care. It is a truly an amazing failure of modern medicine.

Adrenal Fatigue in advance state often has a large mind-body component and cannot be micromanaged as tried by many who invariably fail, disappointed, blame doctors along the way, and get worse unfortunately. So I urge everyone to look at the big picture and dont immerse yourself too much in the trees to look for the "cause" while missing the forest, generally speaking. It is hard, because the human tendency among those not trained is to look at the micro picture when the body is damaged. I just see too many people who have best intention to try fail over and again. They continue to look for all these "zebras" and lost sight of the big picture which impede their recovery. Many unfortunately refuse to look at the big picture for a variety of reasons. Needless to say, we tend to say goodbye to these early on.

Through the years, I have seen very very few cases of adrenal fatigue get better when these esoteric routes are pursued too early when the adrenal are not well nutured. The reality is that few if any humans on earth does not have mercury toxicity of some sort , if they live in the developed world and or have almalgum. The presence of heavy metal does not mean that your body will be in adrenal fatigue. Many survive well heir lifetime. It is a contributing factor, among many. Also, few in advance stages do not have sub-clinical dysbiosis, vitamin deficiency of some sort, and many others. The key is to prioritized and have a long term recovery plan, and you need to talk to your doc more about that.

Many get engrossed on one possible cure after another, only to be disappointed. Since it is easy to find these culprits, why is it so hard to heal after extensive procedures like detox, removal of mercury, ph rebalancing, colonics, etc etc etc? The answer is simple - these are not the main root cause.

Let us not forget that the body is always right. If you do things according to your head's logic ( supported by "modern medicine" and its labs) but not according to the body's needs, you will continue to be punished. The key from my experience to long term recovery is to strengthen the body holistically with patience and a systematic approach naturally and gently. The body can heal itself if given the proper tool. Trust your body. Let it repair itself because it knows what to do better than your head. If you focus on nurturing your body, you will be rewarded. Yes there are bumps along the way, and you need to take it with stride. yes, some takes longer than others. The more uptight you are to find the cause and not accepting this reality in the case of adrenal fatigue, the more you will likely fail. Recovery takes time for those who are in advance stages. There is no short cut.

This is so contrary to our modern education, where we are condition to feel as if we are in control. When it comes to Adrenal Fatigue, we are only in our infancy of understanding the exact physiology. But the good news is that you don't need to know all the details as the body will do that for you, only if you give it some time and a chance.

Many will encourage you to do one test after another, one method after another, and run the risk of body getting worse with each method. There is always something to blame along the way. There is no shortage of that. So be careful. In the case of mercury, the risk of retox reaction is high. While reduce toxic load can reduce adrenal burden, timing is key and approach is critical. Some benefit can be expected if timed and done properly, but if the root issue is not resolved, adrenal fatigue will continue and resurge. That you need to be mindful of.

I hope you do well and wish you success.
