Re: how to make herbal tea

Water, thank you!

That's a very good overview of the different preparation methods.

The main difference between Schulze's instructions on how to make herbal infusions and the instructions that I posted is the steeping time. Schulze suggests 15-30 minutes whereas the source that I posted (and other sources) suggest several hours or overnight. They say that only a few minutes is too short to extract all the constituents of the herb and thus a steeping time of several hours is necessary.

I cannot estimate myself, whether this big difference in steeping time is also followed by a difference in effectiveness. This woman, who has many years of experience with herbs, seems to be sure there is a difference in effectiveness: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pKpe_YGUUw

To me it would not really be less convenient if I had to steep overnight. I could just prepare the infusions in the evening to be consumed the next day. But if 15-30 minutes is just as good as several hours, I would go for the 15-30 minutes.

Many greetings,
Solmare
