son with walking pneumonia

Hi Dr. Mom,
First time on this but seems like it may be helpful. My son who is 3 years old has been diagnosed with walking pneumonia FOUR times in the last year. He's been on antibiotics each time, with the last time being given a different set of antibiotics (azithromycin). He's always had issues with his immune system. He is such a little trooper with such a bright spirit it really is hard to see him go thru so many medicines at a young age.

When he was born, we had a very long labor. I had tried to go natural all the way...after a day and a half of labor he was ok but had to be taken into NICU (neonatal intensive care) and i am convinced that kickstarted all his issues.

so he was given antibiotics from the start...he later developed eczema...and as that started to go away he developed asthma.

i have given him some vaccines but not all as well. which i am so mixed on.

but to go back to his eczema, he also was on all several medicated creams which we limited the use when his skins got really bad. We spent so much money on all kinds of natural products...glad to say that his skin is finally pretty normal. he has itchy bouts but we dont use any medicated creams anymore

Now, however, he has asthma...and late last year a cold of his developed into walking pneumonia. we also have had whooping cough earlier this year. they say he didnt but i did and i am pretty sure he did too.

i am concerned now because both my husband and i dont think this last set of antibiotics is kicking this pneumonia to the curb. it has helped his symptoms but we really think his immune system has been weakened. it also doesnt help that for the last year or so he has been prescribed albuterol (with nebulizer and also as an inhaler (proair) and also flovent to prevent the asthma attacks.

we try to limit use of all this stuff with the exception of the antibiotics which we follow the prescription to a T. anyhow, any advice? i've done tons of research but feel like i am not sure where to start. funny thing is we really think we are a healthy family eating healthy food with veggies/fruits, organic when we can. use of herbs, etc... i guess that is not enough or perhaps i am not doing it right. all we know is that we want to get him out of this cycle...your help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks!
