Fasting can be a great way for people to let go of addictions to food, it can be a great way to also lose few quick pounds and get motivated to lose the rest moderatly. If someone has gained some weight due to bad periods in there life then fasting can be that great bridge to getting back to ones healthy self. However if one doesnt understand the principle of healthy eating before a fast one is less lickly to understand it after HOWEVER before my first ever fast aged 17 weighing almost 24stones and certainly had no knowldge of healthy eating, I went down to 18 stone by fasting and then to 11 stone eating healthy, I think if it wasnt for the fasting I would not have been able to find the motivation to finish the job.

So we cant have simple theories, each person is different, for some its great and for some its a vicious cyle
