Re: Shaving Facial Hair?
First of all, congratulations on biting the bullet and starting shaving with a men's electric shaver. For women with beard growth, the sort of razor designed for men is really essential.
Your skin does take time to get accustomed to a new shaving method, so don't get depressed about it.
You also need to stretch the skin ahead of the razor, so it's tight and the bristles stand straight up. Remember that you're dealing with a beard and men's-type razors do best with bristles. They're not much use with longer, softer hairs. So make sure you shave frequently enough. It's probably easier to shave every day than every second day. Some women even shave twice a day.
Personally I like the models from the men's range of Philips Norelco shavers -- the cutters actually grip the hairs and take them under tension as the head depresses the skin and so the hair is cut at what will be just UNDER the surface of the skin when the hair is released.
My beard growth is almost as heavy as that of my DH and it's dark-colored, but if I shave in the morning there's no-one can see anything till well into the evening. If I'm going out in the evening, I'll shave again before going out, otherwise I'll just leave it until next morning by which time I have very obvious coarse black stubble much like DH's.
