Re: Natural help for Bipolar?

that link you were given is really helpful-

I totally agree with all said in the links article- including the Magnesium, B12 and BComplex balance- as well as Essential Oils and have read that essential oils help any one with any brain chemical issue-- including PMS irritablity where hormones are also involved.

My aunt is bipolar so it is in our family. She became full-blown bipolar after her first pregnancy so it leads me to consider that hormones may play a part as well with brain chemical imbalances.

I tend to get a little bipolarish right before my monthly period so I think there is a hormone tie-in there. My sister recommended I try Oil of Evening Primrose --- one of several essential oils that work with hormonal issues. WOW, have I ever noticed a difference when taking that!

Now I take Oil of Evening Primrose capsules along with fish oil capsules at least 2 weeks before each period. I make sure I mark my period on the calendar.

When I was on Depo Provera shots and then later, was on birth control pills years ago, my mood swings were horrible-- After getting off of the birth control, and detoxing my body- then also taking the essential oils, I am more stable and calmer during PMS times.

I've never been pregnant but my aunt "went off the wall" after delivering her two sons. Ever since then she has been on bipolar medication as well- and keeps going off of it because of the side effects. After numerous times going off of them, her bipolar has gotten much worse. She literally becomes psychotic without her drugs now and has been kicked out of dozens of apartments because of her behavior. The health social workers are a joke with handling her. Her own son tried taking care of her, but she became a danger to the grandchildren.
Right now she is in a shelter. Her social workers are pathetic. They're extent of help is merely to occasionally call her and make sure she is taking her meds. They take her word for it, even when she is lying to them.

Unfortunately my aunt refuses to consider taking things like essential oils. She smokes and will not give that up- she drinks alcohol-- will not give that up either, and has no problem with a chemical laden fast food diet. She refuses to change her eating habits. She actually goes out of her way to spend some of her social security money on bags of Mono-Sodium-Glutamat (Natrium Glutamat) because she said it makes her food taste better. If anyone tries to be there for her- she pushes them away because she says she sees no problem with her condition and that everyone else needs help - not her.

There are many bipolar people who WANT to get better, but need help. Until my aunt WANTS help, there is little we can do for her. She is comfortable being bipolar. My mother and I are praying for her and do care for her- In her case, the best solution would be a nursing home with monitered care that there is no way she can NOT take her medication.

While these people are on their regular medication, they can gradually be weaned off with all of the right nutrients and essential oils - under strict supervision from a nutrititionist. They can't go off of their meds cold turkey. They need to be WEANED off of them by gradually replacing the corruptive alopathic medicines with healing nutrients that affect brain chemicals
