To be more exact, my vodka Eristoff is made of 100% pure grain and 37,5% vol. I'm saving this one for other tinctures... or just a nice drink with straight lemon. :)
I intend to buy "Making Plant Medicine" by Richo Cech. As an apart, this book inspired the creation of "The Tincture Calculator" software.
There must be some virtue in tinctures (along with convenience and shelf life) considering how popular they are in traditional Chinese herbal formulas.
No question about powders, but the following herbalist has a strong opinion in regard of tinctures versus capsules:
