Actually, the post above is the proof, that person succesfully dyed the oil but the stones just came out green.  if the stones had been made of the oil, they would have been red - inside the balls. 

I don't know how it is near you, but i can buy a beet juice at the health food store for 4$.... much cheaper than $25!
