Re: to Kara
Kara, it is said that the main contraindication to a
Water Fast is fear.
If the feeling of fear becomes an ongoing thing, and settles over your mind, you will be working against yourself--So, if you determine this is so, it might be best to switch over into very diluted juices. (if it brings you and your father some peace of mind). It's very hard to be around others as well who fear for us. That's why it's good to be able to be on afasting retreat, where people are not overly swayed by transient appearances, because they know how the
Water Fast works, if it's conducted correctly, and most important, broken safely. Have you read some of the fasting literature, like Shelton's book,I think someone posted a link to?
This would likely alleve your worry...
people who equate themselve to cencentration camp victims will always tend to ring the alarm bells in others. We have an inbuilt horror of such images/realities.
At the same time, a number of us has experienced ourselves looking alrming for a time, esp. if we were not substantially overweight, when beginning the fast.
Itis hard to advise you, without knowing more about your starting situation, but the cystic
Acne sounds like the body certainly has been overloaded--in which case, it might be expected that you'd look not so great. Mighty, furhter down,is correct when he says the teeth looking too big for the head is a transient thing.
Remember, the perceptions on a
Water Fast can be quite altered too. Anyway,I hope that you will either feel a new inspiration to continue on, if that is the right thing, or will decideto csrefully break the fast.
I think the juice feasting recommendation might be a good one for you. As far as the
Acne goes,it sounds as though you might need another fast to get to the botom of that healing--sorry; don't mean to dissapoint.
On the other hand, you might soon turn a corner, and find you can continue to the return of natural hunger. Most important though, is rest, and the alleviation of worry, and fear.
let us know how things are going for you..

PS...as to looking alarming, I experienced that sensation on my 29 day WF. I would notice that I had a sort of worried tense look on the brow, and that, yes, I looked a bit like a starving person. But as you have said,
Water Fasting is NOT starving, and it's the mindset that makes all the difference.
