Tree crops are the ultimate in renewable energy sources. I can remember as a child, all the mango trees around our area, we simply went around eating them, free, and a new huge crop every year. Mulberries were the same, along with custard apples and sapote trees. Nut producing trees could be planted as a food source as well as holding onto soil, lowering the water table in salt prone areas etc.

So many uses.
