You're welcome. Ideally, you should take it before every meal. However, if you take other prescription meds, you may be prevented from doing this. For example, you need to take other prescription meds 1 hour before or 4-6 hours after taking Cholestyramine. So...due to these restrictions, I take it once a day.

I got my prescription from my Kaiser primary care physician. She prescribed it to me to deal with my IBS-D issues that got worse after my gallbladder was removed.

My prescription comes in a large container with a measuring cup. I put one measuring cupful of the powder into about 4 ozs. of liquid (you can't use it in carbonated drinks) and stir thoroughly. You have to make sure you use the measuring cup that comes with the medicine so that you get the exact dose.

I plan on continuing to take this med. It has basically given me my life back! Tweet
