Survivalist Computer
Sounds like the perfect survivalist computer is the iPod. It's the closest thing to a computer you can get that can be used anywhere and not need a conventional electrical supply.
My wife always reminds me that all the survival info I have on the computer won't do any good without power. And she's right. So I went on the search for the next best thing and it seems like an iPod is it.
You can browse the web, watch movies/video's, play mp3's, chat, take pictures/look at them, take video's/watch them, read pdf's and word documents, email and shop online if the web is still available. And if you tink about it, they would be good walkie talkie's too. You can receive a signal "anywhere" without having to subscribe to any service. You can get one with 64 gigs of storage for $400.
Drawbacks:
You can't buy portable storage devises for it. You're stuck with the 64 gigs. And they aren't phones.
The battery charge lasts a long time and they can be charged fast with this guy:
"Ultimate solar charger" for $80 at:

The best portable power systems I've found are these. They come with different sized batteries that can hold varying amounts of juice. Not cheap though, but you can definately put them through almost anything. $450-$830
