Fasting for gut healing
Hello! I am a Fuhrman fan and I'm really psyched to start a
Water Fast AFTER I get detoxed from any
Sugar or wheat cravings. As background, I rang in the year this year on the 20th day of a 21-day master cleanse. I failed to properly re-feed, essentially, and eventually went back to some sugar/coffee/addictive foods habits. Part of that I believe had to do with having developed (perhaps) some new sensitivities to certain foods. I'm figuring out that wheat is a big one for me. I'm 41, female, vegan (except when my kids have ice cream and I have a bite, or, on a bad day, a bunch of bites--I know, SAD). I generally eat a diet full of greens and fruit and I skip oils and other fats painlessly. I do eat avocadoes and some nuts and seeds, and if you know the Fuhrman diet I generally do pretty well getting the recommended foods in--just not all the bad foods completely out. I have had trouble with weight fluctuations in a way that seems to coincide with inflammatory processes. Long story. I'm in pretty good shape and have just about 25
pounds I'd like to lose permanently. Anyway. After
The Master Cleanse and upon starting to freak out about bloating and upset tummy issues I started using herbal "cleanse" products by
Dr. Schulze . These are pretty pure, apparently, but strong. And eventually I think I grew dependent upon them because when trying NOT to use the "movement" (laxative) formula I failed to have any movements. Then the problems got more pronounced with feeling like weight, inflammation, bloating issues were more prevalent than ever but I eventually, over about six weeks, weaned off any and all laxative/softeners/anything like that. So now I'm trying to clean up my diet once and for all. I thought fasting would be great, but it's HARD to fast when you're still in that jam of sugar/wheat type cravings. I fasted for a day and a half and decided it was bad timing (or perhaps I got weak when it started getting hard!) and that I should wait until I was better prepared. Does anyone here know about that, about how long I should prepare and how best to do it so that when I'm finished with a great
Water Fast I get through the re-feeding and a great diet for the rest of my life without being so prone to going back to bad habits, or being too AFRAID of going back to bad habits??!
