Cervical traction safety

I have an over the door cervial traction unit I am very scared of trying after reading just how dangerous it can be. While I realize anything can have it's own trials and tribulations is it more likely than not that a negative occurance would occure out of trying to strech the neck with cervical traction or would a different style of traction device be safer. I've seen badically 4 types on you tube..3 or which I would be interested in as well as afford. I own one, the nect is the inflatable collar and then there is the wall hanging traction device. I'm not sure about the efficacy of the inflatable collar.....and I'd like to experiment with the one I do have before dishing out more money. Any comments and experiences would be appreciated. Also if there are any other methods for stretching out the lower cervical
bones that woukld be great.. the exercises I see don't really touch those areas for stretching out or self alignment. I'm dealing with dizziness and vison problems that i believe are cervical related juding by the frequent cracking in my neck.
