Is This the Last Day of Ramadan?
Sadly enough today could be our last day of fasting and the end of Ramadan. In the beginning 30 days seemed like a very long time but now as it nears the end I feel an imminent sense of sadness.
I know that I did not do enough, wished I had done more and for sure did not give enough. A sahaba use to pray for 70 of his friends daily, for sure did not do that. I read the Glorious Quran but not enough and compared to some who read the Quran in 3 days I am ashamed.
There are some sheiks who said "la illah illah lah" 25,000 times a day and for sure did not do that, did you? I found that the dunya is very difficult these days and many things keep up from being perfect Muslims in today's times.
I prayed taraweeh salat and qiyam but not enough. I cannot compare my prayers to the sahaba or the learned sheiks who were in constant prayer. For anyone who works, keeps a home and exists with tending to guests this lifestyle must be altered.
I gave my zakat and charity in excess as I deemed fit, did you? I should of gave more though and I should of done more.
No Muslim who truly loves Allah and the Prophet should ever be satisfied that they did enough. We cannot compare ourself to the times of old when Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) was alive. The time is shorter now and unlike many religious sheiks who spend the day doing nothing other than worship most cannot do that.
What we can do on this last day is:
1. Duaa - Make sure to do lots of supplications in the last hours of the day. Allah will answer your prayer in this life or the next.
2. Do as much zikr (praising Allah) as you can. The best zikr is "la illah illah lah" there is no god but Allah and al-humdililah is the second best zikr.
3. Give charity to someone today and if you have no money then do a good deed. Call someone on the phone and greet them and wish them a blessed last day of Ramadan and impending EID celebration. Remember the poor and your family.
4. Read the Glorious Quran.
5. Remember those who are in prison and especially those who are fighting in the cause of Allah.
6. Thank Allah for this blessed Ramadan and ask that you had an accepted Ramadan and hope to be present next year in Ramadan also.
As we all gather for EID remember to praise Allah repeatedly. Do not sit in the EID prayer and talk to your neighbor about who is going to visit and how many cookies you made yesterday. Praise Allah constantly and be humble in your request. When you say takbir "Allah Akbar" speak from your heart and your very existence. Let Allah know how much you love him. Let the tears flow out of excitement and desire to be close to Allah on this day. Do this my friends and I guarantee you that the angels will say AMEN!
