Tragedy in Our Town: Kids & Cell Phones

I wanted to post this as a reminder to everyone that uses cell phones, and especially those that have kids that use cell phones.  One of my daughter's friends (22 year-old) was just diagnosed with a brain tumor.  It is unknown yet whether or not it is cancerous; they are planning on doing brain surgery in the near future.  My understanding is they identified the brain tumor after he started having episodes of blacking out and seizure activity.  The tumor is on the right side of the head where he holds his cell phone.  His mother said that he has unlimited cell phone minutes and talks on his cell phone up to 4000 minutes per month.  My husband explained the link about cell phones and brain tumors to his mother and she was shocked to hear that this was a possibility.  There are still a lot of people out there that don’t have a clue that cell phones are contributing to an increasing rate of brain tumors and that the brains of developing young children are especially susceptible to adverse effects…WE NEED TO GET THE WORD OUT!

This has also affected our own family.  My brother-in-law had a cancerous brain tumor removed in his early 30’s.  Again, the tumor was on the same side of the head in close proximity to where he holds his cell phone.  He ended up undergoing not only one, but two brain surgeries followed by radiation and chemotherapy.  He will most likely be on seizure medication the rest of his life. 

I still have a very difficult time getting people to take this seriously…including my own daughter!  Please research this for yourself…it’s much better to be safe than sorry!  Is using a cell phone really worth taking this risk???!!!  Here’s a good place to start learning about this subject…
