Re: Recovering Bulimic- is Juice Fasting Safe for me?

Hello Petronilla. First of all, nice kitties!

Second, congratulations on your willingness to pursue better health. It is possible! I am a poster child.

If you search my posts on this site you can read read read about my experiences, about juicing and Master-Cleanse protocol and how I have used them to achieve radiant good health... a long process but a successful one I am pleased to report!

A couple of things occur to me in reading your post.

First, you are absolutely right about water. It is not for everyone, and in fact in my opinion is not the best option and should not be attempted by anyone (1) not having done major cleansing beforehand, or being naturally very clean; or (2) who cannot dedicate themselves to lots of down time if not actual bed rest during the Water Fasting process. I did two weeks last year to see what all the hoopla was about and frankly, NEVER AGAIN. I am so accustomed to feeling supercharged during Master Cleansing and Juice Fasting that it was shocking how low water laid me. There is no reason to feel this way to achieve a good cleanse! The Word is that a day of water is equivalent to a week of juice or some such trash, but I can say from my experience this is not so.

Water is for people who feel called to do water.

Fresh juices are an excellent option. The Master Cleanse, in which you drink only the lemonade mixture made with real maple syrup which provides carbohydrates and micronutrients is another option. You can jet over to that forum for more info.

Now, with your history of bulimia, my caution would be that you might get into a viscious circle with fasting, thinking "Ah, I can binge and carry on all I want, and then correct all my problems later by fasting." Slippery! Very slippery. Search your soul on this one.

If I were you I would start out with a realistic goal for a first fast of ten days. Go at it responsibly, learning all you can before hand, preparing yourself mentally, physically and spiritually. Do a pre-cleanse diet of ONLY fruits and vegetables for 3-5 days before beginning, tapering off any caffeine (stopping cold will hurt you bad).

Again, you can look at my extensive prior posts on this or the Master-Cleanse forum to learn more. Meanwhile, the best of luck to you and please know that whatever your health goals, they are obtainable. I also recommend that you seek support in the form of a natural health professional who can help you examine and outline your goals, and be with you through the process. I could not have done the work I have without my amazing Naturopath, Gloria.

OK... hope you get this. I see it has been sitting a while, sorry to say.

Best to you,
Somer
