Re: Ego - The False Center

Ego isn't intrinsically bad. Without it we would have no basis for our actions and thus wouldn't survive as a species. Without ego there would be no striving for perfection, be that spiritual or otherwise.

And I couldn't disagree more that mankinds creations aren't beautiful. The great music, art, literature, architecture is something God has EXCLUSIVELY given our species the tools to create - and they can be breathtaking.

False ego is based on an overly narrow identification of self that is conceptually severed or separate from the rest of mankind, the planet, the cosmos and the rest of God's creation. Not understanding and acting on that interconnected and symbiotic relation of self with the rest of creation is a primary cause for malignant egos and the sense of alienation in the modern world.

Ego can be the source of misery or joy, good or bad, depending on the user - but it's essential to not only self improvement and empowerment but even our ability to be functional on the most basic level.
