Re: Please read and comment on my detailed chelation plan

Thanks for the great reply bm303. Exactly what I was hoping for. I did a lot of research on the topic before posting that, and there is a lot of contradicting knowledge out there.

---I agree. I was misinformed many times as well. All I can say is do everything based upon Science not what someone tells you.

People really seem sold on the Cutler program, it just seems a little passive and slow to me, and doesn't take into account all of the knowledge gained about the topic in the 10 years since it was created.

---The whole Cutler protocol is based upon Science so whether it was formulated 10,000 years ago or yesterday doesn't really matter. Science never changes. His protocol doses on half life of chelators and uses ones that have been proven to work based upon case studies and scientific evidence.

To comment on a few of your items:

1) EDTA - This was actually recommended by a quality Naturopath. I'm told IV EDTA doesn't work so well on mercury, but the suppository EDTA has some published studies on it's dramatic success and safety. The suppository also time releases, fixing the need for crazy dosing schedules at night. So what's your reasoning behind saying "no" to it?

---EDTA is a bad chelator of mercury compared to the other options. Anyone who is telling you that something doesn't work intravenously but works as a suppository is lying and has no idea what they are talking about. Steer far clear of whoever is giving you that information. EDTA is not for mercury toxic people in any way shape or form. ALA for intracellular, DMSA/DMPS for extracellular.

2) Vitamin C - I definitely won't take this before the anesthesia, this seems to be the big clear no-no I overlooked. Thanks.

3) I've also been recommended Chlorella for the first stage of excreting the Mercury, and I've been told that without Chlorella you really have a strong chance of creating a loop where Mercury is constantly reabsorbed once it hits the colon. What's your reasoning for saying "NEVER" to chlorella? The same goes for garlic, I've read good things about it and Mercury, here's an example: http://www.hbci.com/~wenonah/new/9steps.htm

---Once again, Chlorella is a sulfur with 1 thiol. Sulfurs with 2 thiols chelate, sulfurs with 1 thiol stir mercury around but don't remove it. DMSA and DMPS and ALA are sulfurs with 2 thiols and are chelators. Chlorella is a good way to mess yourself up. Regardless of what anyone tells you doesn't matter. Chlorella is one thiol therefore cannot chelate mercury and will only stir it around and possibly make you worse off. There is no argument whether chlorella helps or not. Scientifically it doesn't so therefore whatever anyone tells you is not true or was a misconception on their part. Garlic is OK but it is high in sulfur so may make mercury toxic people sick. Most of us choose to exclude sulfur foods and it makes us feel better.

4) I was told that all chelators have the risk of eliminating your Copper and Zinc, and just taking Zinc could throw off this important balance. Why shouldn't I take a Zinc Copper blend while chelating? this seems to be a consensus recommendation many places on the web.

---Don't take copper. DMSA and DMPS deplete zinc and copper levels at such an insignificant amount it won't matter. Unless you were chelating for many months continuously it is of no concern. Mercury displaces zinc in cells therefore most mercury toxic people need it.

I definitely want to me smart, and not risk getting worse. To me the really important part is to get all of the surface and tissue mercury out before messing with the brain/nervous system in any way. That's why ALA and cilantro will not come into my plan for months. Maybe you had a bad experience because you started cilantro too early?

---Cilantro is a chelator, but there is no knowledge of how it works or dosing or half lives. Therefore when ALA has been studied and it's completely understood how it works there is no reason whatsoever to use anything else at this point.

How are you now? Better? How long did it take?

---I got sick probably because cilantro and chlorella are dangerous not only because it was too early. Although you can't take ALA for at least 3 months post Amalgam removal. I really hope for your own well being you follow Andy's protocol strictly. I am much better but I only started ALA 2 days ago. The reason I am better is from the supplements(C,E,D,mg,milk thistle, zinc, chromium) The real improvement comes with ALA and the majority of my problem is mercury in the brain, therefore the first 3 months of DMSA wouldn't help that at all. It takes anywhere from 6-36 months for full improvement. Completely depends on the person. If you aren't that sick and do the right protocol it will be MUCH faster then if you do something stupid like I did.
